Thanks for the info mate. Sorry but more questions. Where would you get preveneered precut mdf pieces??? How much are you expecting it to cost?

no worries, happy to help.

being in brisbane you can get all sorts of veneer and pre-veneered MDF from Brims Wood Supply

no idea how much it costs, but i suspect once u sum up the price of individual MDF purchased and cut at bunnings, veneer, a litre of glue/contact cement and time and effort trying to get the veneering perfect, the pre-veneered shouldn't be too much of a stretch. i may be wrong though.

the only difficulty now is trying to figure out how to make joins (obviously you can't do butt joints with pre-veneered stuff and mitre joints are a pain (even assuming the supplier can cut PERFECT 45 degrees, lining up 12 mitre joints to form a square box may not be easy)
