I'll be attaching 4 - 12" woofers to a 3/4" MDF baffle. The mounting bolts will be located 1/4" from the edge of the hole (can't help the way the speaker is made).
I don't want the T-nuts to break out the edge close to the woofer hole, but at the same time I don't want the MDF to lose grip with the fastener in case I need to replace a driver. Which is a better fastener for my application, T-nuts or Propell-nuts, and why? http://www.stafast.com/products/tnuts.html |

That close to the edge regular hex nuts would probably be best of you can get to them...

Can you offer any pics or links as to what you're refering?
Also, I'd like to recess the bolts somehow so that I can veneer over them, if that is advisable. Since I probably won't be using a speaker grill (at least for now) I want the baffles to be free from sight any signs of bolts. |
