Straight from their respective PDF spec sheets; I will have another look.That number for the Via looks right. MY experience tells me you need foils about that thick to be reliable in a construction like the Via, however the .012 for the RAAL does not look right. It should be more like .004. where did you get the number for the RAAL?

Yes, it seems the 70-20 uses a ribbon three times as thick as the 140-15.

Looks like in an effort to get a low crossover point in a ribbon with 1/2 the vertical dimension of the 140-15 they made a version with thicker foil and a wider diaphragm. Im sure its a good ribbon but it will likley have a different sound than their other versions that use .004 foil.
