Default Wewt new digi cam heres a pic

of the mid/tweet assembly of my speakers, I posted a montage of pics bfore but there were CRAP!

So heres one now. As you can see the "finish" is not quite done yet. Also note the not so wonderful rebate on the tweeter pod, I did this the wrong way round, rebate then veneer, the mids is done properly. Image could be better but resizing was necessary to get under the file size. Bah didnt atach edit~!

Hi Matt,

How has the SE design turned out? How did you implement the xover? Overall sound?

I still wanna get some of those units...

OK heres how I implemented the xover! See pic!

But seriously I had read a few posts that commented on the excels sounding stark and cold, uninvolving etc, well not to my ears I really like them. They are very detailed and very smooth, paired with the SS97 they produce a sound that doesn smear or blur together a very crisp sound clear sound.

As you can see the xover is active and has been for some time, but there was once a time when I didnt have 6 power amps, or LSPcad pro. Then they were all passive, quickly went half active but the excel still had a passive xover. Well I used SPL trace and speakerworkshop or all things. Obviously things were not perfect, but the res trap I designed worked well and so did everything else I guess. But now I have proper software and the ability to measure things the sound has improved quite a bit.

If you like a clean, clear and crisp sound I think you will like them. They do require good partnering EQ to hear them at their best though. Not that they will sound bad with not so good gear, you just wont realise their full potential.

Regards Matt
