Default Help with horn...

I'm trying to model up a conical, rear loaded horn for a tangband w4-616s driver. No matter how I do it, I just cant get the response to smoothen out. I've tried everything. I know the driver is not ideal for horn performance, but it should be giving me better results than I'm seeing. Perhaps I'm over looking something.

Take a look....

Default Input Parameter Error !

Some of the entered parameters are incorrect. First, I get Cms as 1.23E-03 (note you have +03 BIG difference). Also I have RMS as 0.66 (not .01). I also have Mmd as 3.96, but your value of 4 should be close enough anyway.

Try it again with these figures

Cheers

The cms was entered using the spec sheet directly from tb.....

http://www.partsexpress.com/pdf/264-818.pdf

cms is listed as 1347 NM-1

When trying to calculate RMS (this spec was not listed), the program spit out a number less than 0, hence the null value there.

I don't use Hornresp and from the screen shots I can't tell what Fl/FH you want. BTW, I assume this is a backhorn, so you won't get a very smooth sim or much gain unless the horn is very long, with a slow ~conical expansion, terminating in a very large mouth.

I am not an expert, but....

Generally, increasing horn mouth size decreases the magnitude of the peaks and dips.

I'm not an expert but here's my 2 cents...........

In Hornresponse help it says to set vrc/lrc to zero when modeling backloaded horns.

After playing with vtc, s1, s2.......etc I managed to get rid of some of the peaks and dips. Prehaps you need to play around a bit more with the variables.

Your not givings us much help as to your horn expectations. What are your fl/fh goals.

Why the short horn length? to go lower requires a longer horn.

Try s1=30 s2=40 s3=250 s4=600 vtc=400 atc=60 to give you a flatter start.

Don't know if any of this helps.
