At least veneer is in fact wood.
Doesn't the formica layer imply that the cabinet is solid Formica? Laminate is a great material to use though. It is the easiest way by far to get a decent gloss finish. To trim it you just run a router with a flush cut bit with a bearing, around the edges- simple I also think that it would help damp panel vibrations. The non gloss type can take a lot of abuse without showing it. There is also a product that is the same color all the way through. Formica's version is called Color Core. A lot pricier though. Another hugh namebrand is Wilsonart. Tapeease sell laminate too. |
