Do you know anything about the 4" driver with XBL2 from adire? This seems like it will be interesting as well. Will it be offered soon as well?

My comments on the Extremis: I was hoping for a longer excursion, with a big-roll surround, so I could build the world's smallest Sonotube subwoofer. I hope we can expect an "Extremis SUB" variation to be released at some point.

I am more interested in the fact that the driver have flat response 40hz to 5k (in an appropiate box)... I think that this is the most important characteristic of the driver.

It's looking to be about the same time. The Extremis project was actually farther along than the 4" FR project at the time CES was held but I think they would like both to be ready near the same time. It would be way cool if the release coincided with our DIY meet.

I don't remember the XO point but it uses a 4th order and it sounded great.

Damn... A single driver that handles all the important frequencies...! Perfect for two-ways or MTMs!

Actually from what I understand, they will extend farther than the 5 kHz mentioned earlier. I believe the picture with the phase plug is the newer version and is supposed to be fairly flat out to 15-20k.

I was referring to the larger Extremis driver, and not the 4", when I said 5k.

That 4" would be excellent for Surf,Sun,&Sound's reference speaker project where he was looking for a full-range driver with a wider band than most. I don't know if he settled on a Jordan JX92S.
