Suppose you have a really nice 2-way system in mind, and decided that you want to have a tower with these 2 ways set at the top, and a side-firing sub. (which is somewhat similar to the Nht St4- http://www.nhthifi.com/2004/products/product_detail.asp?ProductLineID=2&ProductID=14
Frequencies above 120Hz are directional, so the side-firing subs should be crossed over at 120Hz or below ideally. Are speakers like the ST4 ported? It seems like it would be very difficult to port subs like this, and have them sound right. Would it be easier to do this as a sealed box?? Also, what other design considerations should be made for this sort of setup? The woofer would be either a 10" or 12". TIA!
