about Rs 800
i already have two 8" drivers by "thai"(i think its a local company)
i cant afford more coz i have to spend on my amplifiers, power supply, pcb, subwooferbox etc

i went searching for some 10" drivers on SP road one guy offered
a thai 10" for just Rs 350! i dunno about the quality of these drivers and iam not expecting 100s of watts of power
im using it in a small room so some 10watts rms would do
the job.

one more problem is that ive decided to use two 8" thai drivers(already have) and a 10" driver(yet to be purchased)
now i have to design the box (tough job)

there not much space in my room so ive decided to use the loft
in my room its i think its about 6 cu ft i'll give the exact size later

and i dont have t/s specs for my 8" driver(thai)

Default Speaker Repair

Hi, I'm new to this forum. I have a pair of old McIntosh XR 7 which need new boxes and re-coning. Does anyone know anyone (in Bangalore) who can do this. Willing to pay!

Thanks

Jasjiv,

i doubt u will find anyone who can recone the XR7 drivers to their orignal spec.

i know i have not faound anyone in bombay. All the old guys i knew in my younger days are dead or retired. some of those old guys and gals were very good.

my guess is your best bet is to see if you can get someone who can meansure T/S parameters recone the drivers. the reason is that they can then provide you T/S of the new coned drivers and you can make a new cabinet to match these new parameters.

given the trouble this will take maybe u can mkea a XR7 lookalike with new drivers.

The audio(phile) business in India is barely sputtering. those whose business did not get killed by the advent of TV and the VCR died once the boomboxes got popular. of the old guys the mukherjees (sonodyne) are stilll in business. the propoters of Cosmic i hear are making and exporting helmets other smaller guys like Nova and Norge are operatind shoe string operations.

That is why I give a lot of credit to the Raths. They are survived adn grown in this melee.
