Here is what I ended up with. Lambda TD15X in Barzilay cabs, 350hz round tractrix with JBL 2441, and Big Heil. Crossover at 700 and 7000. I've never measured it, but out of all the Altec, JBL, Klipsch, Jensen, and eWave horns I've had, I like this combo the best.
I like the midrange horns, the heils and direct radiator woofers I don't much care for. You have a neat hybrid system, 🙂 How far away do you listen from them ?
As an old bass player I like the DR woofer better than a horn. The Heils have a smoothness to them that does not aggravate my tintinitice [sp]. I sit 13 feet away.
I have 4 subs that run from 60hz down. The woof cabs are sealed.
How large are the subs?

How does your chosen midrange horn beat the round tractrix? Sound-wise, measurements, bandwidth?

i'm really confused with what i'm going to do. my wife wants me to sell off these horns and drivers settle into something. when i put together the midbass horn i made the mistake of building a rear stand that allows for changing out multiple different horn arrays. well months later i'm still messing around with it. there are many configurations that blow me away. now i have the fane studio ten and midbass horn optimized for the best upper end response. what happened is i lost 10 cycles response on the bottom and an getting response out to 2k that put goose bumps on my goosebumps in the midrange. so now a 1 inch driver is doable in a 2 way. lol
the celestion cdx1730 in the prv wg35-25-b waveguide mated to the midbass is probably better than all the rest from1.5k up and is about as simple as it gets. i'm about done. the only ther plan i have is to use the jbl be 2435hpl in the big jbl cinema array waveguide. the waveguides are on back order lol
ten dollar qsc clone waveguide - really a sweet sounding little horn - ten bucks

Hi POOH,
Looking great! Which of the horns do you like the best, and how does the JBL 2435 compare to the other compression drivers you have tried out?
Thanks!
Best regards
Peter

Hello, what I was looking for out of this driver was the possibility of using it as a 2 way with a 600 to 800 hz highpass. It's fine in the low range in these big horns but the top end rolls off a bit early. It looks like it may be corrected with some passive EQ. I haven't listened to the drivers yet. This is just the early measurements - What these actually are is a pair of JBL 2431 drivers with brand new 2435 Be diaphragms. I replaced the ferrofluid in them and found they have the best response and lowest distortion with half the amount of fluid recommended by JBL. I think they are more interested in high power reliability than I am.
In the past I had the TAD 4002 be diaphragm drivers without the snout so a 1.5" exit driver with 4" driver. I really liked them used that way. These are 3" driver with 1.5" exit. The Be diaphragm is also different in having the polymer surround versus the TAD with Be. surround. I have not actually listened to the drivers/horn in the system. They will probably be used in the big JBL 2384 Cinema Array horns if I can ever get a pair delivered to me. The EV6040 horns above need the throat modified a bit to work best with these - they are 1.4" entrance - surprisingly they are in fact a wee bit smoother in the midrange over the other horns shown that have the proper entrance.

Here is a 2431 driver in the 2384 horn - I'm thinking the
2435 Be driver won't need much eq in the top end due to the screen compensation built into the horn. That would be a plus 🙂 - the peaked lines is without a screen in front of the horn. Another way to tackle this is probably just some foam in the throat - correction this a BMS driver - YECH

without a doubt the fane studio 10 and jbl 2435 are the most synergistic pair of drivers i have ever experienced. pure pure natural sound with the best dynamic range and layering of depth and micro details yet. can't stop listening to this system.
have a pair of the jbl cinema screen 2384 horns- very short horn for it's 30 inch width. measure fine with the 2435 drivers. not the response i am seeing with the big radials on the low end but usable down to 700-800 cycles. the radials also load better through the upper midrange so the sound is more upfront. still very relaxed and full of vibrant tone. with some work this might be nice, they need some stands built so i can set them up right and maybe some dampening. looks like plus minus 2 db 800 to 10k than it drops like a rock.
jbl 2384 cinema horn - in the right room with direct radiators for the low range these might be the ticket. in this system with the ultra fast upper bass and midrange of the fane studio 10m in the horns it just can't keep up in micro dynamics and high speed resolution. the low midrange just ain't right.. now that that's out out the way, curiosity killed the cat, i'm back to using the big community hr60 radial with the 2435.. it all perfecto - just the top octave needs addressed.

sorry, but I had to back track a bit
Which driver did you like so much, with the LT142 ?
went through the rounds with 288g and three radial CD horns, the community light and sound hr60 is my favorite.
here is the faital pro 1.4 lth42 elliptical tractrix flare horn. really clean
no eq 1/48 smoothing pink noise three feet 400 cycle high pass 😛
this horn is begging to be used with it's little brother sth100 and celestion cdx1730 crossed in at around 7k with the midbass horn crossed in around 650
