B.VDBOS,

I have just ordered four vifa p22wp 8" drivers from www.apexjr.com in the states.
The total cost to my credit card was about AU$228 Australian Dollars. I also expect to pay 5% duty on top of this. The shipping time will be (I hope) 4 - 8 weeks surface mail. This is a lot to pay for 4 x US$27.50 speakers, but still a good saving on the kit offered by Jaycar.
If you can wait, I'll make another post when they arive and let you know to total cost and shipping time.

I intend to make a pair of speakers similar to those featured in the Oct 2003 issue of Silicon Chip (Australia). The speaker and port kit is about $500 from Jaycar and includes the same drivers plus a pair of superseded vifa tweeters. I plan on using a pair of current vifa tweeters. Initially I will use home made crossovers, but eventually plan on bi-amping the speakers. Because of this I will place the crossovers externally in a recess on the rear of the units so I can easily make modifications and have separate access to woofer and tweeter wiring.
...............well, that's the plan anyway.......anything can happen, but Iv'e got to start somewhere!

Note to Kiwi importers of speaker drivers:

The NZ tariff schedule shows a 7% tariff on drivers. However, there is an exemption to this and it applies to everyone. So, if customs messes up and charges you 7%, make them recheck the import category and check for the exemption.

The exemption is known as a concession and the applicable code is: 996140C
