I know the best way to reduce dB of speaker is to use L-pad circuit that consisting of 2 resistors, one series and one parallel to the driver.

If using a single resistor and placing it after the crossover, nearest the driver, it will affect the impedance of the speaker and lead to the change of x-over point.

But what if I place that single resistor to BEFORE the crossover/filter. Will it affect the crossover point like placing AFTER crossover case ?

Hi
You raise some good points, a 3 way design the gale GS401a answered
driver adjustment by placing the midrange adjustment as a series resistor
midway between two others, and the tweeter adjustment as a
series resistor prior to the capacitor seen in the attachment.
Most Gale owners dispense with driver pot adjustment and wire
fixed resistance to mimic the pots originally used.

So there is a bit more to this as drivers if adjusted by an L pad would
indeed be changed by the resistance of the driver most simply
expressed as R1xR2 / R1+R2.

Perhaps there is answer for your project by using
small values of series resistance suitably placed instead
of an L pad.

Cheers / Chris
