Design for Silver Flute W14

Hi guys,

First of all, some info on this well-received driver. I have read over Zaph's Silver Flute design but wonder if there's a cheaper tweeter that mates well with it. As for the crossover, I want something simpler but adequate...how about a 1st order Butterworth?

Comments are appreciated.

Attached the schema of the LEAP crossover.
BTW I've seen this morning on Madisound forum that Rick Graig has done measurments of the shielded W14RC25-08, he proposes to send results by mail.
This is what he wrote :
"I did a near-field test on the 5.5" shielded version in a sealed box. This woofer is perfect for this application if you need a compact speaker to go with your sub(s) in a HT/music system. F3=76hz, F10=47hz. I'm combining it with the JP3 ribbon. E-mail me for the response curve."

WKR,
Lionel

Well...I'm not sure about anyone else...but I like the sound of my tweet (still) more than my Seas 19TNF...the Silver flutes are very nice sounding too. I have only used four tweeters in my life...Audax TW01E1, Peerless DT80C04, Illusion Audio TN-25, Seas 19TNF08. Seas is best for accuracy...Audax have a brightness in the right spot to give that natural flare that metallic instruments possess in live.

I need a good shielded tweeter to go with the Silver Flutes, preferably under $20. I'm really only considering Seas and Vifa because of their consistency (well, Axon is an alternative).

If I go with the Axon T1, I might as well base the system on Axon's excellent 6S3 6.5" midbass...

I'm not sure how these tweeters would match with the silver flutes, but here's some good bang for the buck tweets

NORTH D25-06S ($36 per matched pair)

Dayton Silkies ($16.75 each)

GR Research T1's ($30 per matched pair)

I, myself, am planning on using the w14 with the fountek ribbon tweeters, but those are $81 each (I got some help from Rick Craig, he's thinking about putting out a kit with this combo.)
