Here's a pair of Dennis Murphy's MB20's that I am building for a friend or as a second system if they don't impress him.
After gluing the top/sides, I decided to add a shelf brace at the last minute. I did not compensate for the added volume of the brace and will have to figure out what affect that will ultimately have. I thought that I could always add a second layer to the baffle if I needed a little more volume. |

I used a palm sander to make sure all the panels where flush so the baffle had a nice flat surface. However, mishandling of the palm sander could sometimes bevel edges slightly and create gaps between the baffle and the sides.

After cutting the four holes in both cabinets with my router, I cannot imagine ever attempting a line array. The amount of dust is just unreal.

One tweeter rabbet was 1/16" too shallow. I spent 15 long minutes with a chisel slowly shaving material off so that the face of the tweeter was at least flush with the baffle.

It's too late now since they're together, but if you're in this situation again and don't want to screw up the cabinet volume with the brace, you can use a hole-saw to cut several small holes in the brace to reduce it's volume without significantly reducing the benefits of the brace. Peace |

I thought if the cabinets turned out well I might glue some hardwood over the front baffle which would give me additional volume equal to the volume of the original driver holes and more if I open up the original baffle with additional holes or a jig saw.
These have gone together pretty quickly. I started them on Saturday and hope to have them playing by this Saturday. |
