The DCR is not at all like a 6th order BP. It's full range since the speaker fires into free space & not totally enclosed in a box as a BP is. My DCR doesn't sound muddy. If anything... I seem to notice a slight choked or hollow mid bass, which could be the dip or could just be room nodes. Some day I really should take it outside & give it a real valid listening test & FR measurement. I would suspect there is some trade off in transient responce (group delay) for the wider range of port aided excursion limiting. Let's face it, ports are resonators. However mine doesn't sound boomy in the least. The deep 30 Hz range is very good strong & not boomy.

Hi Adrian,
the typical notch of Weems DCR happens at F3 as you can see in the site. About changing the volumes ratio, I also show in the site what happens increasing and decresing V2.
The tuning box frequency of a reflex system, Fb, corresponds to the Weems DCR F2, as I show in the impedance comparison graph.
