The ultra-fi movement is my thing. Vintage idler drive turntables, old MC cartridges and horn loudspeakers.
I also have a website dedicated to DIY hi-fi. (See link in my signature.)

there are some nice builds on your website. just reading about ultra-fi movement, some thing it seems i am trying to do. I have built my horns and am trying to understand electronics to build a tube amp. I am trying to explore music more, made easy and hard by the internet. Easy to find but what is good and where do i start.

I'd be interested also. my interests are focused around DIY all DHT (01A, 112A, 71A, 2A3, 300B) DC and xfmr coupled amplifiers (on hand)

Sounds like we should put something thing together. I couldn't really hold anything, in a block of flats. Sounds like i would learn a lot from meeting with you all.

Well I'm in too, but I live on the Fleurieu Peninsula which isn't the most convenient location.

Maybe we should hire a small hall close to the city for a day one weekend. This seems to be a typical format, where we all bring along some components to play with

@coley
Glad you like the site. There are some very serious and skilled builders out there.
Ultra-fi is pretty big in Europe and Asia. Not so much around our neck of the woods!

Just thinking of a few ideas. First meeting do as you said lowpoke and hire a hall and have a play. then later meetings was thinking we could talk nicely to Vaf (vaf.com.au) and Adelaide Speakers (Adelaide Speakers - Ascension) and any others around the place for a tour/demo, diy tips whatever really. Any ideas would be great. Any of you that a serious about this let us know, inform your mates too. Would be great to see this come together.

Perhaps in the first instance we should meet up after work one night for a beer and compare notes. See who is able to bring what — and just make sure it's worthwhile going to the trouble of organising a space. (By the way, a 'hall' might just as easily be a good sized 'room' somewhere.)
