Default I2S direct on a Rotel 965BX

I have tried the "I2S direct" mod to my Rotel 965BX. I have directly connected the I2S signals out of SAA7310 to I2S input of a TDA1541A in accordance with the following pinning:
pin 4 (SAA7310) to pin 1 (TDA1541)
pin 3 (SAA7310) to pin 2 (TDA1541)
pin 2 (SAA7310) to pin 3 (TDA1541)

No audio went out of TDA1541, though I measured 44.1 Khz on pin 1, 2.8224 MHz on pin 2 and some data on pin 3 when a spinning disc is present.
I need your help.
