I've never seen an actual frequency response curve of the TAD TL-1102 woofer by itself, but published curves of the TAD 2251 and 2252 monitors show what looks to be about a 5 dB bump in the response centered between 400 and 500 Hz. When Robert Greene reviewed the 2251 for The Absolute Sound in the February/March 2002 issue, his measurements also caught the anomaly. I presume it's a cone breakup effect.
Those of you who are familiar with the TL-1102, perhaps such as Cyclotronguy and Nelson Pass (the one and only), have you found this bump to be a significant problem? And if so, have you had success in minimizing it (perhaps through a notch filter)? Thanks for any comments. Alidore |
