My DIY Horn setup

Not bad for a beginner. Seriously, well done and thanks for sharing.

Little confused about referring to the midbass as a "J Horn". .. which to me implies a horn in the shape of a "J". Or am I just not informed in the art of "horn speak"?

The model is called that, I don't really know why

Very impressive DIY system, nothing like the sound of horns . Not having the means, I had to make my own horns out of scrap wood and paper...still weigting more than 1200 pounds totally

Have you considered using dense birch plywood of the same thickness instead of Alu? I mean there is not that much stress on the structure and the $$ savings would be considerable. Plus the warmth of wood...

It would be more expensive to do them over in any material seriously though, I did not pay much for the job and aluminum looks way better than plywood. I did not go for aluminum because of the strength, at least not for now. Should I go for a larger ALE driver the case might be different

About 2% of the project budget was spent on the stands for mid and tweeter. Not wasting money, IMO.

About the same time I got both First Watt F5s up and running. I got brackets for the transformers, PSU boards and chokes custom built. Dual mono CLC. Very happy with them.

Here's the threaded adapter I made for the ALE 4550 to fit the regular flange of the JLMC350. Stainless steel, of course.

At last, the 3-way satellite was up and running.

Here seen with the prototype en baffle bass units I initially had plans of finalizing to go with a 2-way horn sattelite. Since I later went ahead with the midbass horn, I saw the opportunity to build something quite different. I had earlier assisted in designing and building a huge SLOB with a friend and DIY mentor, and a plan started emerging.

I was at the moment playing with the stereo placed on the short wall of the room. Perfect for a bass solution with three 15" woofers per side. You can also see my working space where I designed the speakers, soldered the amps and programmed the dsp.

Any info on your choice of cones for the 515's? Curious minds want to know.
