Can one build a better (non) LS3/5A speaker based on T27s & B110s?

I have heard beech was used because locally available and inexpensive. It seems to have same density and hardness as maple. White oak is denser and harder - wonder if that will make a difference? I went with thinner 9mm all around vs 12mm on production LS3/5As. I read somewhere that original in-house BBC LS3/5As actually had 9mm all around. The panels will get treated with mass loaded butyl and then covered with acoustic foam. I am hoping latex caulking damped battens will be an improvement.

Here is the BBC white paper's take on the fillets.
