Default Thinking of Converting 2 way design to 3 way AND/ OR upgrading Drivers(Pic attached)

Hello,

Over the past 12 years I have tinkered with my speakers, braced the cabinet, braced the drivers, a little more pillow stuffing inside, and have just gone active. Pleased with unexpected diy improvements I keep tweeking :-)
I have two way speakers, the two mid/bass woofers are in parallel. (hopefully a pic is attached)

It is nice to have the attenuation pot on the active cards to tweek the top or mid/bass up or down to what sounds best.

I have been thinking a little more mid range would be nice, and so was thinking along the lines of making the tweeter hi pass (is all ready), the middle driver for mid freq's and the bottom driver for bass. I need another active card to make a band pass, Oh and another two amps.

I'm only at the beginning of a journey about learning about speakers & cabinets etc.. Is this a daft idea making a 2way into a 3way to be able to atune hi, mids, and lows?

Now the other idea I'm pondering upon is to upgrade the drivers :-O
Tweeter - a touch more "quality" would be nice
Bass - slightly lower bottom end would be nice

Reason being I heard some Totem Forest's the other week, the bass went lower, but mine was tighter, it would be nice if mine went lower and stayed tight :-)
The top end of the forest's was metal dome tweeter, a little harsh for my ears but the quality of the sound made mine sound rather cheap, hence the idea of a better quality tweeter...

I look forward to hearing any comments or thoughts on the above,
Much appreciate your time
Cheers
DC
