Tang Band W3-871S with KEF B139

Hey all,

I've got a set of old KEF B139 and was think of pairing them up with a set of W3-871S drivers. Any thoughts out there ?

I was planning an 80li sealed enclosure for the Kefs, with about a 5 li sub-enclosure for the W3-871S.

Have you considered a TL or overdamped vented enclosure for the KEFs? It sure would improve the performance though the enclosures would be larger. Is size a concern? Also, just to make it clear, you're considering this as a two-way speaker?

Actually, I would be considering this as a 2 way speaker. If it needs a little lift in the 15K and up region, I have a set of LPG26T tweeters that can help. Otherwise, I think I would prefer to keep it 2-way.

As for size, I'd like to keep the boxes under 3cu.ft. I recently build a pair of rather large speakers, and my back simply can't take it anymore.

The intended use for these speakers would be as monitors to test my homebrew tube amps in the basement.
