Default Klipschorn woofer alternative

I picked up empty EV georgian centurion cabinets.

I have T35's, and the 828 compound driver from before.

Looking for a good 15" woofer. These had a 15WK originally fitted in a down firing position. I am looking for something suitable and inexpensive, so I can use it, while I wait for a 15WK to wander on into my life.

Thanks.
Srinath.

Georgian Centurion have a slightly different setup.
They have some fewer pieces of precision cut wood. Not 52 like the Khorn, a much more sane - 38 or such number ... he he, They need a few braces. I'll be added 5-6 ...

And they dont have the PA style speaker slapped on top, the enclosure is the outer wall, and the 828 goes inside it, there is a resonance tube on the rear of the 828 and an 823 horn in front ... and the outer shell of the PA type horn is actually the enclosure.

Anyway, I am looking for a suitable woofer to slap in there while I look for the 15wk.
My mids and tweeter etc are all ready to be fit in the thing.

Thanks.
Srinath.

I think they could work -

Nominal Basket Diameter - 15", 381mm
Nominal Impedance* - 8 ohms
Power Rating Watts - 300W
Music Program - 600W
Resonance - 33Hz
Usable Frequency Range - 48Hz-3.3kHz
Sensitivity*** - 98.6
Magnet Weight - 59 oz.
Gap Height - 0.312", 7.92mm
Voice Coil Diameter - 2", 50.8mm

The Ideal Fs is 26-27, but there were K33's that were 33 hz.

Keep the ideas coming, I'll be grateful.

Thanks.
Srinath.

here's a sim using a Khorn model I found - if 3mm xmax would suffice - according to the model, 22 watts referenced to 8 ohms hits 3mm at 45Hz and 124dB in a perfect corner.

why does it sim so strong even in 1pi?

the model was found here: https://community.klipsch.com/index....drivers/page-2

All the replacements in that thread on the Klipsch Community thread are all pretty $$ (the eminence gamma was OK). I am pretty soon going to get the 15wk correct version sometime.
I'd like an inexpensive one to use for now.

How is an EV 15 BFH woofer ?

Thanks.
Srinath.

I have used the late Ted Weber's shop for years. They are NOT just guitar guys. They did my Bozak CGs reconing and they are just simply amazing. Weber Speakers - Making the world a bit louder each day.

I do use them in my custom guitar amps too. They can basically generate almost any kind of sound "flavor" based on a long history of doing this sort of thing.

if you can get a really good price on the Gamma, then it should within limits of excursion do at least as well as K33. I've run K33/JBL 2220H and K43 type in Khorn - not tried Altec. my room walls are so resonant that my Khorn have been shut off for years - can't stand them more than a minute.

btw - speaking of fs, look at my Khorn K33E measurements - the speaker looks pristine

K33E
Re = 3.325 ohm
Fs = 41.72
Qes = 0.459
Qms = 3.442
Qts = 0.405
Le = 0.9627 mH

K33 are pretty pathetic in Karlson compared say to Altec 421 or 416

Great, I'll get an eminence gamma.
My cabinet is the down firing kind, I think a bit more spl than a K33 will be good, but I do have cabinet issues, lots of bracing and bolting will be needed.
Thanks.
