Default Starter set - PC speakers and amp Music oriented

Ok very new here been lurking for a week or two.

Interest in building a base set of speakers for an eventual surround sound 5.1/7.1 set up. Wish to start with front speakers and amp.

smallish room 12 by 12 roughly

thoughts so far
some type of gainclone amp. (need volume would like a head phone jack.....)

Speakers considering three

CSS Super ELfs http://www.creativesound.ca/details....del=SUPERELFCK
CSS Elf 1.5 http://www.creativesound.ca/details.php?model=ELF1.5DK
DAYTON BR-1 6-1/2" 2-WAY MONITOR KIT PAIR http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshow...=300-640&DID=7

Im new to all this but not new to High end sound

Would dearly love your opinions. Thank in advance

You need to decide on the total 5.1/7.1 set up to choose correctly.

Smiles yes I suppose I do. But I have benn rethinking this .

My primary interest is music, the room itself is small most tiimes I will be very near the speakers IE at computer keyboard. So nearfield ( hope I am using that term correct) will be very important.

Music tastes are ecletic but dominated with celtic and rock primarily.

So if I was to focus on a stereo plus subwoofer config which of the three I mentioned would be best. I am sure there are others out there as well.

Help advise pointers ect. much appreciated

Nearfield the Super Elf's will probably be better.

Only because the others will probably be better farfield.

Both ELF's are in dire need of a subwoofer.

The BR1 you could probably happily live without a subwoofer.
