I ordered 2.2uF caps instead of 2.0uF. These are Solen with a 5% tolerance (2.09-2.31) and that is out of range. This is for my MBOW1 project: http://murphyblaster.com/content.php?f=MBOW1.html
Will this be a problem? I'm going to assemble the XO anyway and if anyone thinks it is a problem, I'll order the proper 2.0 uF.

If that's the cap being used in the LC series combo in the parallel woofer leg, I wouldn't worry too much. The tolerancing of the relevant driver parameters probably swamps that small error. If you want to be anal about it, you'll need to trim all the xover values for your particular drivers anyway. And if you're not anal about it, why worry, eh?

You can simply add a 200nF in parallel, and theoretically the compound capacitor will sound better.

Who me...anal? Thanks, I'll just leave it alone. I've been listening to Bose 601s for the last 22-yrs. I'm sure they'll sound just fine.

You could put a 22uF in series, doh!

I did the math and you are correct. However, I'm sure you're joking because it would be cheaper to just buy two more2uF caps. One 22uF would be about twice the cost of two 2uF doh indeed!

Just as a test, let's try the following.
If I take an 8 ohm speaker, resistive, and add a 2 uF capacitor which is 8 ohms at 10,000 Hz, how far down will my response be at 10,000 Hz? If I take the same speaker and add a 2.2 uF capacitor at 10,000 Hz, how much farther down will my response be? Considerably less than a single dB, I am sure. I realize that we are dealing with a more complex crossover here, but I think that might be indicative of what little difference it might make.

Since two of them were only $3.92, I ordered two 2uF. I'm placing another order with PE anyway. Hey sreten, I guess I am anal.
