Default 18sound ND2080A: anyone tried it?

As title says: has anyone experience with this 2" driver which seems not commonly available (18sound website says : available on special request). The version ND2080 (without A) seems more commonly available but it's a different construction.

ND2080A - HF Neodymium Driver

The response of the "A" version is incredibly extended in the HF/UHF, apparently due to the classical "tric" (copper ring annuling HF inductance), and the magnet is at maximum charge for ND material with 2.2T . But still: quite amazing FR published by 18 sound.

interested in 18sound stuff also.

the curves they present on their websites make these seem incredible drivers but as we all know, its probably too good to be true.

Yes, agree with you generally speaking.
OTOH, their curves usually look faithful to me in comparison with some other manufacturers I know. Compare with many of 18sound's other drivers' FR which do include dips and bumps, HF roll off etc just as it is in real world. Even the curves of their new driver with Be diaphragm look genuine.

The 2080A is the 1480A with a exit extender/adapter to achieve a 2" exit instead of its normal 1.4" exit. (..the 2060A and 1460A are effectively identical to each other as well - though note that the magnet's gauss is only .19 instead of the 80's 2.2.)

The diaphragm size (3") is the major reason for the improved high freq. extension (vs. break-up) above 10 kHz (on-axis) when compared to other 2" exit drivers that have 4" diaphragms.

Note that his measurements on post 11 do NOT have any smoothing applied.

To good to be true?

I don't think so.

Thanks for the hint !

So now, any report on sonic experience with 1460A, 1480A or 2080A welcome from those who use any of these.

Best horn/compression drivers for music?
2" is 1.4" with adapter
(if speaking about 14(20)60(80))

Thanks a lot for the link. Interesting comparative measures in post #57.
