Question Vance Dickason HT Kit

Has anyone had experience building/listening to the Vance Dickason HT Kit being offered by Parts Express?

The drivers used in the left, right and center channel speakers are the Audax AP130Z0 Shielded 5-1/4" Woofers (Item #296-155) and the Morel MDT 40 Neodymium 1" Compact Soft Dome Tweeters (Item #277-040).

The drivers used for the surround channels are the Audax AP130Z0 Shielded 5-1/4" Woofers (Item #296-155) and the Audax TM025F1 Tweeters (Item #276-152).

Would like to get any feedback available before plunking down $898.00 USD for the kit (MDF/veneer cabinets included).

Thanks for your help.

Hi Joe,

I don't know if you saw, but I'm selling some AP130Z0 and HP130Z0 in the trading post part of the forum. The HP130Z0 is the unshielded version of the AP130Z0, so it would work for surrounds or speakers not near a CRT TV.

Tim.....Thanks for the re-direct.
Matt....Thanks for the offer, but for now I'll stick with trying to build a kit. I don't have the test equipment or knowledge base yet to be comfortable with my own design.

Joe

Please be sure to let us know how your choice works out for you. If you decide to go with Vance's design I'd be very interested in your assessment of the surrounds.

The AP130Z0 are the woofers used in the kit. The HP130Z0 have the same parameters and curve. You wouldn't have to re-engineer anything. I just thought I would offer it as an option to save some money.
