Question Active 3way Dual AS 160 tower loudspeakers fixed. but...

I bought dirt-cheap failured and destroyed pair of Dual AS 160 active loudspeakers. I wanted to use their speakers, box and power supply and to put inside new active amplifiers, but unfortunately ;-) I fixed them quick both…
When the sound appeared I must say it was much less ugly then expected
The sound is delicate, even soft, midrange pleasant present, bass is killing. There are no holes in the spectrum of the sound, Dual made them very good. There are no harmonic richness at highs.
There is inside of every tower small switching power supply, 100W class d amp for bass driver and car TDA8563Q amp for mids and highs.
The volume is regulated in some range, same like trebles and bass; this is very useful to set right balance of every part of sound spectrum.
The secret of unbelievably bass strength and speed is class d amp + switching power supply. Before I would not use this combination, but Lazy Cat’s VSSA thread described better and faster bass with switching power supply.
I would say that those loudspeakers are perfect for home parties – robust, effective and loud at every frequency.
The hf driver is connected via small bulb similar to car light bulbs, and here is my question before I will short it:
Is it only for safe or is it a kind of filter too? Do you know similar solutions?
Has enyone use those speakers and will share the opinion?
