Default 3-way Woofer Selection Help

Building a three way seems to make sense, since have tweeters and mid woofers from other abandoned projects.

Two DIY favorites: Peerless 83870 and XT25 - as shown in pic
The Madisound Speaker Store

I don't have woofers for a 3-way, looking for a 10" or good quality 8", maybe double 6.5"s; open for suggestions.

Action films can be brutal - however I typically lean toward vent boxes as long as bottoming-out is not a problem. I don't play speakers "loud", but use black box amps, 150w-200w per channel.

Approximate size: Three cubic feet is about my limit, or just too hard to move around, etc.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Seas L26 will dig deep in a 2.5 to 3.0cf cabinet.

Default MMTMM

Thanks Face, that is a heck of a woofer.

Thinking my best bet is a MMTMM, e.g. this is salvage from MS's "HDS kit", with a 8liter chamber built-into the center of a box, they could go down to 100hz (if needed). [not the large cap, that was buried in drawer]

If you are willing to go with a 12" woofer, I would suggest MCM Audio Select 55-1465. Each of my primary pair of stereo speakers that I'm listening to music with has this woofer in a closed-box of interior volume 2.8 cu. ft. I just love the sound.

If 2.8 cu. ft. is too large, it can be given a vented alignment in a 2.14 cu. ft. enclosure following what Marshall Leach has published.

Both the sealed and vented alignments end up with about the same f3 = 40 Hz.

Resurrection of the Anarchy woofer? Where do you buy them?

Can't beat the MCM driver prices, 1/2 or less than the other suppliers.

The Anarchy would actually be a pretty cool choice for a 2.5 way mmtmm. Sensitivity is still pretty low though. You can get down below 30hz in a 3 ft3 box with four of them, and handle a full 500 watts without excursion issues.

That sounds like a plan

Would the Dayton tweeter work with this, or just too much to ask?

Looks like the Exodus out performs a competitor in a box half the size.

With a 54L box 2- ports are in the 3/4" x 9" x 9" range.
