Default How to shield and unshielded driver?

If one has unshielded drivers, whats an easy way to shield them?

I have some 1 inch wide copper tape, (The kinds used to shield the winding sides of E+I transformers.) So can I wrap the magnets with that?

Any ideas?

Here is one thread that might provide suggestions.

will this simple shield work..?

Cup shields or bucking magnets are the typical way to go. If you have access to a blacksmith, they should be able to fabricate a custom metal cup type shield inexpensively.

Good luck,

Mark

Just a ps type edit to my reply about your tag. I do not mean this as a criticism, I am just interested in it. Sand is mostly silica, silicon dioxide (SiO2). Silicon (Si) is never found in a pure state in nature. What a boon it would be to microchip manufacturers if pure Si did occur naturally and we could just pick it up off the beach. If I could pick up pure Si from sand I would be making my own power transistors.

I'm sure that won't work.

If they are simple cabinets glueing tin or zinc plated steel to
the side walls of the cabinet will work. Just glueing a plate
to the wall nearest the TV would probably work well.

Zalytron used to sell "silent shields" or something like that - iron cups that fit over Focal magnets. They may still have them, although I didn't see anything on the website.

Shielding affects the T-S characteristics somewhat, so be sure to measure after installing whatever form of shielding you end up with.
