Never been to Melbourne, but i've been to Vancouver -- just a ferry ride away -- we call it the big smoke.

If ever you're out this way don't hesitate to let us know so we can show you a good time. Melbourne population wise I think is twice the size of Vancouver so it would certainly earn the tag of 'the big smoke'. The Vancouver Lord Mayor has had some nice things to say about Melbourne and was impressed with our Casino. One thing he didn't like was that in his opinion we have too many beggars!
Melbourne has been home for the past five years for me and it isn't a bad town to live in, however, being an ex Novacastrian I think Sydney, Newcastle and the Hunter Valley are far more liveable places than Melbourne!
Cheers, ;)

Originally posted by phibes I've just been listening to the Vancouver Lord Mayor, Larry Campbell I think the name was, being interviewed on Melbourne morning radio. Apparently Melbourne and Vancouver share the title of 'The Worlds Most Liveable City'. If you've ever been to Melbourne you would say that opinion was subjective indeed!
Cheers,:)

Hi phibes,

Yes Melbourne is a little bigger than us. Vancouver's only 2 million. Melbourne's what 3.5?
Remember "liveable" doesn't mean most beautiful, cheapest, friendliest, or anything for that matter. If using the language correctly I would have to say the Mexico City is the most liveable. Heck, there are 30+ million persons there. That sounds liveable to me.

If I ever find myself in "beautiful Melbourne" I'll be sure to look you up.

BTW, do you have to turn your speakers upside down to listen to them?:D

Calhoun in Van.

Hi phibes

I live in Valentine just around the corner from Boolaroo. Since the Sulphide has closed down Boolaroo prices are on the up... probably become one of the yuppie suburbs like Carrington.

Another older dude on this forum....... hooray! I feel ancient around here.

Yes, of course the speakers are upside down just like everthing else here!!:D

That's why mine have a woofer on top of the tweeter. I wonder if they'd work in the northern hemisphere?

Hi Rabbitz,

My wife came from Linden Ave off Cherry Road at the bluff, just short of Valentine. I looked at buying land in Valentine way back in the early 70's but never went ahead. You're right, the Lake has got it all over Melbourne in just about every respect.
Don't know if your speakers would work in the northern hemisphere.......they probably don't need to nail their speaker cable to the floor either!! Our mate Cal from Vancouver at least has a sense of humour.
Cheers,;)

I just did a handstand to simulate. Yes, they sound just fine, but I felt kind of dizzy after the first song. Perhaps a new approach is in order. :D

Thank you,
Roofing inspectors don't get to hear that very often.

As far as old farts go, they make the best speaker builders. It's called patience. I'm still on the good side of 50 but things are sure different than when I was a teen.

Good on ya mates!

No crossover distortions? Then that frickin' tweeter must have like a 5 inch excursion to handle all the bass it's gettin'.

Actually those tweeters are just for looks. They are just pieces of plastic guued on, with no VC or mangets...... At least he glued some wires to the tweeter to make it look more realistic. And those double terminals? If you take it off, you will see they magically re-connect into single wire:smash:

LOL....when I first clicked that link I thought "you have got to be kidding me!!!" The guy really does seem to take his stuff seriously tho. And yes...they do look like a cheap, cheap 6x9...and yet the "matching golden 230Watt driver" does make it very enticing....

I wonder what the list price is???
