Default Midrange loading theories

Hi

I've seen three ways that builders load the midranges in their systems:

a) sealed
b) ported
c) open-backed

Under what circumstances is each method best and/or applicable?

Thanks.

Mos

Basically a) nearly allways.

sometimes b) for hybrid* systems
(*top unit can also be be used on its own)

c) extremely dubious for drive units as they are comphrehensively
outperformed by planar units in this application, due to the drive
unit giving up any low frequency advantage it may have in the
other loading applications.
