After my first build, that was a mid size 3 way , with medium quality drivers, I decided to build another set of speakers that will meet my taste in aesthetics, and hopefully in sound quality too. This time the enclosure will be made by a good friend, with exceptional skills both working with wood (MDF) and also with the crossover design.
The first set of speakers were mede by me,and it came out very well, but it was an easier build
.

Speakers used:

ScanSpeak D3004 - 660000
ScanSpeak 18W8531G00
ScanSpeak 30W4558T00

The new build is looking like Avalon's Isis, but I used only one subwoofer, and the upper enclosure's baffle (mid/high) is vertical, because I'm using passive filters, and don't want timing problems.
I will keep you up to date with the progress.:)

Oh- I thought you had these 32W...
Solen Electronique Inc.

The 30W you have is an improved (formerly) Peerless XLS12, and that was also an outstanding performer.

Oh come on! I gotta ask "WHY!?" now.... I see a BG Neo3, but what mid?
Later,
Wolf

Why or what?:) I know abaout that Peerless, the mid was a SBAcoustics SB17NRXC35 , an inexpensive driver, but it outperformed it's price easily.

Yes, it's an aluminium tube,I had the same resonating sound from a plastic tube :p ,only noticeable al very low frequency ,generated with a tone generator.I see Xavian also is using aluminium ports, so I don't know what to think, I was thinking the more rigid ,the better :scratch1:.

Thank you for your advice ,I will take this aspect into acount ,and will try to make some tests, before glue-ing the front baffle...

The port placement is not ideal too, direct coupling with the woofer ?
Not really recommended.

Thank you for your post, we can always learn things, can you please talk a little more about this...
And if there is a problem with aluminium tubes please argue, if I will hear resonances I will aply somting antiresonant like Dynamat, or change the material.

PS:(the woofer will not touch the port tube phisically...)

Ohoo, and welcome mister PandazYa!I warned you long time ago, that I'm coming.:D
The bottom is excluded because I have to raise them too much on spikes...But it's on the back, maybe to high? I have experiences with the same woofer and same port placement and had no problems.

I can't justify this mathematically but understand when the source is too close the resonator, i call it "direct coupling", the mass of air in the rest of the box is not take into account. It is a short circuit of the rest of air in the box. Your bass reflex should not work well.
That's all, i can't explain more.

The metal tube is from Geralfino's experience, difficult to justify or argue.
The bass reflex tube is noisy at high frequency (800H-1K), it can stimulate tube frequency. You should choose it with a large diameter.

In this case the woofers freq will be under 400hz, we'll see after measurements.
I will rethink the placement of the port if it's possible to move it far from the driver itself, the egeled back of the enclosure unfortunately raised the end of the tube
