Default Modifying a 4430 clone

about 3 to 4 years ago in a German DIY magazine a clone of the JBL 4430 monitor speaker was presented. The original speaker's acoustic properties are well-known, same to be expected from the clone. But I don't really like it's rather short but very wide design. So I thought I could build it another way. Keeping it's internal capacity of 153 litres, I'd arrange both vents beneath the 15" woofer and the horn in a perpendicular line above it. The resulting internal measures (h x w x d) would be 960 x 40 x 40 instead of 82 x 51 x 36.6 centimeters. Is this a good idea? Will I have also to modify the frequency dividing network?

Best regards!
