I'm planning for a 4-way horn speaker. horn bassbin (midbass) + horn mid-range + horn tweeter and a supwoofer for lower frequencies. I'm going to use active Crossover but I have no idea what to use. sure drivers have different sensitivities and I'm gonna use L-pad to attuanate them to balance the sound.
I want your opinion about active XOvers. I'm pretty a newbie to this issue. thanks alot |

Hi,
Active speakers don't need and hence don't use L-pads. rgds, sreten.

4way active speaker have 4 power amps, one fore each speaker
you control the level of each from the 4way crossover/preamp most PA power amps are also built with level control at input |

even your speakers are 4 way, it does not necassary mean active crossover has to be 4-way...it can be two way, split the signal for subwoofer and the rest, two amps per side required, and passive crossover for rest
or get a 3-way active crossover, you need three amps per side, and only have mid and tweeter passive crossover, (often just one cap) if you decide 4-way active, maybe digital crossover is best option, than you (only) need four amps per side, no passive parts between amps and speakers good luck! lots of options... |
