Default DIY Tweeter Voice Coil Repair

I have a Scan Speak D2904/60000 with an open voice coil. I have contacted both Madisound and Scan Speak and it appears that the replacement voice coils for this tweeter are no longer available. Even worse, the tweeter has been discontinued with no direct replacement model so I am stuck with having to repair the one I have.

If anyone can direct me to a DIY resource that can help fix the tweeter or a good repair service, I would be very grateful. Also, any word of advice that can help fix the coil will be greatly appreciated. The tweeter looks very difficult to disassemble but I have no choice.

Thanks for you help.

Ciao

Hi Mush

If it just a broken wire, I have a great success in taken a half wingding of the coil and solder it directly to terminal. Hope this helps.

Take care

Hi,

Except you need to take one full finding off the coil for a broken
lead, and you might also need glue to prevent a re-ocurrence.

Scrape off the insulation for a decent solder joint.

rgds, sreten.
