Hey guys. Anyone can give some advice? There was a loose wire in my DIY audionote preamp which caused ocilation and blew out my 2 midbass of my right castle S2. It is a 2,5way design with the 165mm midbass front and top firing in a quarterwave sealed box.

As I am not able to find replacement for this Mid/bass(suppose to be castle proprietry). I removed one of the left top firing midbass and place it on the right front firing. Sound is ok. transparency and imaging still thare but the Bass suffered.

I am seeking help if anyone know of any replacement? Any alternative drivers I can use? Anyone know the driver spec?

I have a Vifa C17WH laying around and wanted to try but have no idea how it will sound like. Appreciate any advice/suggestions...🙂

Ok, next step, I would try to get two similar/compatible drivers (or four doesn't matter), since you need at least two () to make the same stereo sound for both speakers. The same when people need only one, better to replace one in both speakers. Since you moved one from the left speaker to the right speaker, (4x)same drivers, you will need a new pair one for the left speaker and one for the right.
Now the problem is to find two things matching.
1. You need the "faceplate" to match. Many people find drivers in the same shape, or choose different/circular. Others repair the classic originals (drivers).
2. You need to measure the specs and find a compatible driver. If you don't do this then probably - the two drivers being different - you will need to change crossover and frequency will not match. Plus, you will end with a TL not working. So luckily you just need to find the compatible drivers. (I can help you with that, in the meantime, I have to say I don't know references for those drivers and nothing about TL). Have fun.

The reference for your speaker it's "Castle Howard S2 Speakers" ?
Do Epay search on that driver...

Hi,

Use the two Castle drivers front firing. You'll get no help from the
current Castle brand. The good news is the upward firing drivers
only have to be approximately correct to restore working order.

Look for a pair of battered old Castles on ebay with a 6.5" driver,
more than likely they will work fine as the two top drivers.
