Hi Guys,
I purchased a pair of ms10i pearl addition speakers from ebay and upon testing unfortunately found that one has a blown tweeter so I am wondering if someone could recommend a replacement tweeter as I know it is of a fairly common spec being an 8 ohm 25mm aluminium Dome.
I am on a budget with this project so do not want to spend too much.
I know some cheaper tweeters can sound harsh but the spec of the ones in the below link sound quite good and am wondering would they do the ms10i any justice?

I hate working with tightwads. You replace with something that has a possibility of a good result primarily. You appreciate that you must replace BOTH tweeters?

Do either of these look like they might fit with a bit of cardboard to fill the gap? The second is better but might need attenuation.

Thanks for the reply.
Oops I forgot to add that i will be replacing both tweeters.
The reason for me being a tight wad is that these speakers will be set-up in a room in which these speakers will occasional use from myself.
I thought i'd get stick for being on a budget and also knew the big brands with their big prices would turn up in this thread lol.
The seas units look superb but they are around 30-40 each
I will check all the dimensions of the existing units today.
Is there not a budget tweeter that is known to perform well?

With the rectangular spacing of the domes screws
nothing is going to fit the standard mounting plate.
So your going to have to cut down a round tweeter.
TBH the linked to cheap tweeter, at allegedly 98dB, might work if that
spec is wrong, or it might be a very grim device. The Fs at 1.8KHz, if
its well damped (making ferrofluid mandatory) might suit the MS10iP's
simple crossover, but undamped it could be a general disaster area.
Very likely it will work very poorly, cheap tweeters are a crapshoot.

TBH one duff tweeter wipes a huge chunk off the value of a used
pair of MS Pearls because to be safe you must have the original
tweeter, that is specifically designed to use a single capacitor.
The tweeter in no way has a "common" specification, e.g. it
has low sensitivity, to avoid the use of level matching resistors.
(If its the same unit as in the MS20iP it might have resistors.)
Seas used to make a tweeter designed for a single capacitor,
(very low Qts), but not anymore in the available range.

I agree with the comments on here and would love to get a decent spec or the originals but can not seem to find the spec of the original tweeters anywhere

You just gotta figure out how to get them to fit. I'd give the broken tweeter the 1.5V battery crackle test first. It might not be totally dead either. Might just need a teeny weeny wire resoldering.
I'd reckon it's worth fixing the MS10i. Nice plastic bass unit. You should measure its DC resistance first to establish if it's 3 ohms DC (4 ohms nominal) or 6 ohms (8 ohms nominal). Then can sort out a crossover upgrade too, based on the more sophisticated 4 ohm plastic bass Epos ELS-3 which was in the Robin Marshall stable. First order kinda sucks unless you like BRIGHT.
Nothing hard about this.

Visaton has an oval tweeter: G 25 ND - 8 Ohm
whether it's the same 'ovalness' - eccentricity??? is a moot point though... & probably to expensive for this job

Now back to the suggestion that jazzbee might try the affordable Monacor HT-22 Cone Tweeter. Discussed here:

I'd think the original 2.2uF and 47 ohm treble filter could work well with no modification. I had a good time with these MS10i speakers, and a cone tweeter might work very well.

a similar price and ending up with a fully working original pair for ~ £20.
You can then decide whether is worth fixing the non-working pair.
Finding another working pair for ~ £20 is still an attractive option,
such are the vagaries of buying used stuff at very low prices.
Fully working but tatty cabinets would be a good find.
The cone tweeter looks very ballpark, though no impedance curve
means you don't know if that is going to be an issue with a simple
series capacitor. If the cone tweeter needs attenuating then you
may also be able use this to suppress any tweeter driver impedance
peaking to an extent - a decent solution could be possible.
Still, IMO the best option is a fully original working pair.

and lacking their plastic rear baffles, the same front baffles.
The best score would be a pair of MS10i's.
