Again, thanks to everyone for taking the time to help on this.

I have conceived of a new variation on this theme. If we still accept the Tapered Bass Box, but continue the slopes of the box up into the MTM upper box, how does that confuse the BSC. Referring to the sketch on the RIGHT.

The upper box would be a Midrange/tweeter/Midrange with all the bass handled by the lower box. Not that is Mid-RANGE not Mid-Bass.

But by continuing on with the sloping sides of the lower cabinet consistently up into the sloping sides of the upper box, I have have two Baffle Steps, one at the lower Mid Driver where the cabinet is wider, and another at the upper Mid where the box is lower.

I'm guessing about 8" (from the drawing grid) at the bottom Midrange and about 6" at the top Midrange. Though likely, the bottom cabinet will be slightly larger than shown, making the width of the top section also slightly larger. (8" = f3 = 570hz, 6" = f3 = 760hz)

See attached Diagram.

Sorry to revive this old thread, but I stumbled across a video about the Infinity Reference 6 speakers, which are very similar to what I've drawn here.

From what I can gather, the Infinity Reference 6 are 10" low-bass, 6" mid-bass, 5" midrange, and a dome tweeter. I'm searching for more detailed specs, but on an old speakers it is somewhat hard to come by. The Infinity website was useless in this matter.

The video itself is a poor demo of the speakers, but you get some nice clear images.

If nothing else, it seems I'm not the only person to have conceived of a similar design.

From this AudioKarma link, you can find a photo and specs in Post #2 -

Rough Infinity Reference Six - AudioKarma.org Home Audio Stereo Discussion Forums

Frequency Response: 35Hz - 40kHz (+/-3dB)
Crossover Frequency(ies): 200Hz, 1.5kHz, 4kHz
Sensitivity: 90dB (1 watt/1 meter)
Nominal Impedance: 6 ohms
Power Rating: 35 - 225 watts
Woofer: 10" (25.4cm) IMG
Mid-Bass: 6" (15.2cm) IMG
Midrange: 5" (12.7cm)
Tweeter: EMIT-R type

Indications are that this was a sealed box design.

Just passing it along.
