Open Baffle with wheels

Hi,

I was wondering if anybody else have attempted this.

Now, we know that open baffles should ideally be about 3 foot from the back wall. However, open baffles should also be large to improve the bass performance, that means a lot of floor space is wasted whihc could be a challenge for apartment dwellers like me.

Has anybody ever tried mountng open baffles on wheels so you can slide it out when you want to do some serious listening and leave it near the wall when you are not using it or just some casual listening.

An alternative is to use teflon sliders.

Any ideas and thoughts?

I like the idea of being able to slide the speakers away when not listening to make more space.

I belive it's pretty close to thos baffles with hinges that allows you to ply the baffles, after listening, into a smaller footprint.

I found the hinges lower the front open baffle size, and width seems to be ugly, not height.

I like the idea of a rolling baffle.
But I'd like it better flat on the ground.

link is a good example of open baffle + u frame on wheels.

two important points:
- if there is a woofer, it should be as close to the floor as possible
- the gap between the baffle and floor should be almost zero (felt lining should be okay, I think)

On a different note. I think 3 wheels will be ideal. Although i think a slide pad with a piece of rubber in between that and the baffle base might probably be quieter than a wheel solution...
