The Altecs sound great, but you gotta be willing to accept a BIG speaker. The box for just the woofer was 25x22x42. With wood horns, it was going to be 53"+. Not bad in bigger room, but huge in mine

Ok. Why not give open baffle a crack. You can knock something up in a weekend.
