JX125 with G2si Tweeter

Im looking to buy a pair of the jordan drivers Full range and a pair of G2si tweeters ( ribbon's) from www.creativesound.ca around xsmas when i get my xmas bonus. Im wondering what kinda box config i should go with either a Sealed box or Ported. Satelite configureation or Tower or tline. Im planning to use these with my aleph 2's. Then later on build a pair of stereo Subwoofer to reach them deep bass note's

It might be worth trying the JX92S without the tweeters first as they're designed to go full range. Regarding enclosures - they seem pretty versatile and if you're planning a sub-woofer you could always go for one of the smaller, ported boxes.

I'm busy trying to resolve the same question myself, having bought a pair of JX92S a couple of months ago. I'd be interested to see how many different types of enclosure are in use out there.

ps If you did mean the JX125 - they were used in the Townsend Glastonbury speakers with a ribbon tweeter. I think that was a 50L ported enclosure.

Nope i want to use a Ribbon tweeter the g2si from www.creativesound.ca and the Jordan jx125

Interesting idea, I'd been using a Jx125 with Jx53 bi-amped with line level 1st order x-over for a year or so.I could never really get it to sound right so a few days ago I tried running the Jx125's full range without the 53s, they are remakably good as full range drivers a bit sizzly and spitty at the top end but magically musical.

I am using them in sealed 25litre boxes as recommended on the jordan web site, this makes the somewhere between a standmount and a floor stander, a somewhat inconvenient size,
making them as satelites would mean a Q of 1 or thereabouts and higher f3 but could work.

I think your idea could be great, I was thinking a adding a G2si as supertweeter above the Jx 53 but can't get them in UK. You might want to add a low pass to the 125 to remove the sizzle from the ribbons passband but I think the Jx 125 is more capable than most drivers of gracefully reaching the high x-over that the G2si requires.

I find the Jx125 has a lean and dry bass quality, tight and well defined but not voluminous a baffle step compensation circuit is probably in order if you are going to use them any distance from a wall.
I am planning to rebuild my speakers which are in mdf coffins at the moment, I was going to use the stacked slice method which does mean flexibilty in adding different tweeters so I if I can import some g2si at a reasonable price for carrige and customs I'll probably try the same idea.

Follow up to the JX125 - the Townshends crossed over around the 5k mark, I believe.

I'm currently using a JX125/JX53 in sealed enclosures, the bass in a 35L cabinet, which makes a reasonable floorstander. The volume was calculated to give a decent Q. (Don't ask - I think I was aiming for 0.7 but can't recall now).

The Jordan website also recommends a 66L ported cabinet using two JX125s - I presume the size and port can be re-adjusted for one JX125.

By the way, the latest JX53s (last 3 years or so) are a big improvement on the earlier 53s (the one with the cylindrical phase plug) - less hard and more natural sounding.
