There is a "White Paper" about the development of the LS50 which can be found if you search for " Kef America LS50 PDF A lot of work has gone into it. I am looking forward to auditioning them around Christmas time when I am in London.

I'm wondering what these new drive units would sound like mounted in a ported spherical enclosure, (VAS of 2.48 litres) with the drivers very closely integrated with the surface of the sphere?

Sounds like a plan to me!

Hi Colin,
every review that I have read about the LS50 speakers has reported them as being excellent in every respect.
As for the availability; watch this space, as I have been exchanging a few emails with
KEF (UK) on this very subject!?

Cheers

Hi Jerry - I'll keep an eye on the thread. I'll be interested to hear how you get on.

KEF have pulled off a good design with this.

Hi witwald,
I had forgotten that jackocleebrown had already provided the link. Interesting read! It demonstrates just how much work went into the design. I think that these drivers will prove to be very popular in the future and I'm surprised that there has not been more interest shown amongst the DIY community!
But as I have already said "watch this space"

Hello, I've been enjoying my LS50's for some time now and I'm really impressed by the sound.

I signed up to let other members know, these speakers are design in the UK. It says it in big letters on the side of the box, and in much smaller text on the other "Made in China".

I suppose if the LS50's were actually manufactured in the UK, then you could probably tac on an extra 400 on their price tag.

I love em, either way.
