Hi, I've been here looking and reading posts for a little while now.

I am building a pair of two way floor standing speakers using no preset design. They are heavily braced and double wall thick mdf.

I was going to use a basic first order design for the crossover but thought it might be wise to get some advice here first.

I'm not sure if the drivers that i am using are a good choice but they are the ones I have and hope to use.
Please forgive the cut and paste of the drivers specs.

What's the diameter of the Vifa? If it's a 21 cm, that's probably a bit too large to interface properly with a small dome tweeter.

First-order networks for two-ways can be used in very special circumstances, with drivers specifically made for that, a skilled designer, and a LOT of compensation. Even then, you normally won't end up with something that acts the way you think it will- there's a big difference between electrical slopes and acoustic slopes. In your situation, I'd design with a higher-order filter.

Thanks for the replys.
SY the vifa is an 8" and the scan speak is a 1 1/2" tweeter-mid.

So would these be suitable for first or second order crossover?

Vigier, I never really noticed the 13.5kH limit before. It won't really matter with 30 years of using power tools the upper highs are long gone. :(
