Pretty sure it has already been done WFRW, but WFR is what the new Manzanita design is all about.
Usually any of the 3inch drivers will work from 300 and up. Dave will probably jump in with a plug for the Fostex drivers ( I wish I could afford a set of those) bit of reinventing the wheel question really

The concept is sound and with lots of good midbasses and small FRs the options are many.

I've done this recently with a 2" FR Tang Band driver and two 6" woofers. This allows me to set the crossover point well below 1000 Hz (750 Hz), which helps to get around some response issues.

thats a cool looking project there charlie. I have 6 of the 800SL sat here, and various woofers i could use, and i bought them with the purpose of using these in a low 500hz to 1khz crossed two way.
