Polarity of Peerless 53 NDT?

I'm about to mount some Peerless neodymium tweeters. But they are reused from another project and the white paint on one of the connecters indicating polarity is gone. How should I connect the tweeter in order to get default phase?

cheeky me, sorry I just found your post and since nobody else bothered to reply your problem is easily solvered [ a local saying from an ad for a local paint co solver] just get a 9v dry cell batt and solder or clip wires to the pos and nrg terminals in turn connect these to the tweeter terminals the terminal touched by the pos wire that makes the dome move out is the positive, easy done but I am sure you have already solvered your problemo cheers Tomcat

Thanks for your reply. And yes, you're right, I have solved the problem already. I did not use a 9v cell, though - only a 1.5v, which was enough. Isn't it possible to damage the tweeter this way? I mean, when the battery was connected a scratching sound instantly occured indicating that the tweeter reached it's maximum excursion. That can't be good, or?

no problemo many manufacturers use 9v though a 1.5v will do as well only you do not get the excursion with it that you would with 9v so with 9v it is easier to tell I have used 9v for years and yet have to damage a driver this way though if you do it too long it could overheat the vc and zap it's gone but that is very rare and I would not unduly worry too much, glad you solverd the problem it's a very simple test so as I suspected you had solvered the problem already cheers and all that tomcat
