I want ideas about how to build big round horn using MDF slices any idea about 3D CNC or rotary machine which may be capable of cutting such a thing? Have you tried contacting Horns for finished horns?
If using CNC for making wood horns it would probably be cheapest and easiest to make the horns split in two parts and then glue them together. Milling or using lathe in a long narrow throath might not be feasible (depending on sizes off course). |

You don't need a CNC machine to make a horn. Cut out the circles with a router or a jig saw, glue them together, and sand down the edges. An angle grinder with 40 grit sandpaper works well. Another way is to fill in the steps with auto body filler.

Yes,like that.
To make the sanding a bit easier, you can mount the horn vertically on a lazy susan, and use the angle grinder to rotate it as you sand. |

![]() I think cutting circles with CNC will speed up the project. I have another question: what is the best way to design a Tractrix round horn? |

Here's the approach I took:
https://sites.google.com/site/diyfir...tractrix-horns Design is the easy part...download the spreadsheet from volvotreter's download section then graph either by hand or on the computer and print. |
