Loudspeaker advice needed

Hello,


I am looking to build a slim floorstander speaker that is very musical, has a lot of texture warmth and that has a very Rich and room filling sound that
is tonally on the "warmish" side on neutral , yet retaining enough spatial and detail information and very good dynamics. (It is usually a difficult trick to pull, I know...)
I would like to keep away from lean or bright sounding speakers, as you will probably understand, even if they can be toned down with
valve amps.
The speaker should be easy to drive. Anything from 90db 8ohm to 96 db 8 ohm would be great, but I would also consider less sensitivy speakers as long as I can drive them with my 25w pure class A amplifier. (Sugden A21 integrated amplifier)

Commercial loudspeakers I have considered purchasing are the Proac D15 and the Living Voice Auditorium or Avatar, although I must confess that the idea of purchasing a commercial loudspeaker quickly dissapeared when I found out about the possibility of DIY, since I now know that I can have a much better loudspeaker for the money....

Another important factor will be a good bass response, so I think I would rather keep away from Minimonitors or very light-bass loudspeakers.
I think the reference for the Proac Response D15 can give you a rough idea of the minimum bass impact that I could happily live with.

I haven't had the chance of listening to many hi-end systems above my price range, so I can't really indicate you the types of drivers that I find myself comfortable with, the only exception being the Accuton ceramic drivers used in the Avalon loudspeakers: too lean for my taste and not dynamic or musical enough. They had a very good soundstage though. Not my cup of tea...


I would appreciate it if you could let me know which are your suggestions ( a couple of lines explaining me the sound character of the system will be appreciated )


Budget : 1000 to 1600$.

I'd be looking for a 3-way design with the woofer near the floor and the midrange either baffle-width compensated or bipolar. When you use the Allison philosophy to get the bass holes filled in, it's easier to get a warm, plush sound.

Maybe the North Creek Audio Rhythm? Guess it doesn't really qualify as slim though at 10" wide.

An Eton 11.2 that I recently completed. Walls are two-ply .75" mdf. Veneered with brazilian rosewood, sealed with 4 coats of urethane. I actually like the shiny look. Time-consuming to build, but the design is pretty classic, they sound good, and the basic box design can be tweaked very easily (i.e. two-ply and beveled edges in my case.)

I bought my kit from Madisound here in the States; www.solen.ca also sells the parts; they claim that frequency response is 23Hz to 30KHz. If so, they are truly full-range. I will e-mail pictures of finished speaker if you are intersted in design ideas.

At $1000 + u should be considering kits or other done before designs. $1000 + is alot of money to spend on an expriment. I like most of Tony Gee's work. I like this Progress but would look at substituing the SEAS 10" with the new SS 10"

If anyone has any experience with them I would really appreciate it if you could write a couple of lines briefly explaining the sound and voicing of the loudspeaker in question.

And remember that I will be using a Sugden A21 amplifier to driver them (25 w class A single ended)
