Looking great, you have got me thinking of building a big version to do the work under my 160hz le'cleach horn.
Happy to inspire. Where are you in Oz?

New Three-Way Horn Project - Speakers & Subwoofers - StereoNET Australia - Page 2

When I built my large Bill Fitzmaurice bass horn...I had thought about placing it in that space above the speakers, firing into the corner. I may still do that...but the sub is serving duties in the separate HT room.

So, I may design a new large bass horn, using a single driver, with the horn firing down towards the left corner.

A mate did a quick sim for me on a 6.2 meter ( 21 feet) horn with mouth size of 11,025cm (45cm deep by 245cm wide). The sim didn't look nice at all...very ragged.

But, there must be something 'fun' I can do to fill that void...and get a smooth response from 25Hz to 100...?

What about two tapped horns...on top of each other with horn openings oposing...?

Alternatively, a single(?) LF channel comprising, say, 8 x 12 or 15 inch woofers in a sealed panel/cabinet...?

However, I wouldn't mind ideas on drawing up a horn I could build.

Thoughts?

Im in SA, will start a new thread, Thanks

Hi Andrew

Why don't you talk to earle about setting up the xover values in the amps and gain can be set for each amp . You will need to measure each horn to find the xover points anyway .
This is how I'm setting my amps up .

Earle could build you some nice simple 2A3 SET amps for each channel ,very nice 😎.

Cheers

Ok thanks.

So, audio from, say, dac to dsp then to the 3 stereo amps?

Yep, and you could put a preamp before the dsp.

How is dsp housed?
If you are talking about minidsp, its a board so would need a case or just tuck it away somewhere. Mine just sits open behind my amps.
I'll also need to configure the amps so they have separate volume controls, plus one master?
DSP allows gain adjustment to each channel but some people like to adjust level at the amps, especially if drivers have very different sensitivity. Your preamp can be the master, or the dac / source if it has adjustable gain.

Hi Andrew, what geometry does the square horn use ? is it a catenary flare ?
How critical is the horn geometry in this frequency range ? B&C has many models for 12" :

What made you choose the 12PE32 over some Nd drivers with equally low Qes ? Is it more musical ?
keep us posted on the progress ! br Marc

Selenium mid drivers arrived yesterday...wow...never seen anything like it.

Check the size.

Also, the B&C drivers arrived.....again, for a 12-inch driver, so heavy and so well made. Fantastic.

Crites 3-way cross overs also arrived.

Just waiting on the Stereolabs horns...and to fit the mid bass horns into some nice outer cabinets.

So, we're getting there.

Chano, John Inlow (Inlow Sound) tested drivers and came up with the B&C PE32. I'd suggest it was due to high freq response, horn loading capability and musicality. He speaks very highly of it. It is supremely well built.

Regards.
