Default Amplifier Help

I have a plate amplifier that my friend got of a subwoofer and i have no idea how to use it, but he said i need a preamp and a volume control, but i still dont know how to connect the power supply up or how to hook the driver to it,

Right now its just the module were all the electronic pieces are with a few cables and it also has a power supply connected to it but i dont know how to connect that to the power point either?

Could somone please help me with this dillemma i can tell you more about the stuff if you need it.

Its a wintel subwoofer amp but i have no idea what model!

Oh, it's in that state, with out the (missing) preamp daughter board it's going to very difficult to get it up and running I'm sorry to say.

You'll need an active low pass filter as well, but then you still have to hook it up the right connections on the amp board.

It's probably fixable, just not easily, you have much electronics experience?

I am not the best at electronics but i have an ok general knowledge of things and i usually pick things up as i go

hey volenti great job...

1. if maxdeaf wants to use this amp purely as a sub amp there is one way....

a) use a passive low level XO to filter out the bass i think crutchfield (www.crutchfield.com) sells such

b) now need to have all those controls. all one needs is a level control at most. passive level controls are also easy. and then he needs a power switch here I would use a relay that is triggered from the switched output of a AV amp so he does not have to power the sub manually.

c) then cover all the holes on the back plate and enjoy

am i missing something.

BTW i saw a tranny in the pics but no rectifier or filter caps so youll need those too.
